He was a self-reliant, resilient Mountain Man that could respond to any challenge no matter how dangerous. He was widely known, honored, and respected for his experience and integrity.

His remarkable life was brimming with adventure, business ventures, controversy, successes busts and overcoming incredible odds again and again. He lived a complete life dedicated to his wife, family and their ten children. He found his own distinct way that carved his name into stories and lore of the Old West to create a standing legacy during the birth of the states of Kentucky and Missouri and over his 85 year life-span.
